         I have an African mother, and her name is Mama Tom. She is a woman of passion and a woman of strength and wisdom. Although she is 70 years old, she has 15 orphan children that she takes care of during the day, and she prays all night long. She is strong in Love and Trust. The home she lives in is an old church building that the church donated to her, and she trusts in God every single day to provide for her and the orphan’s every meal. When you see her, she will be dancing and praising her God. She will be wearing a banddana around her head, a long African style dress, and a sash around her “big mamma hips” to carry whatever she may need. She has love in her eyes, and kindness on her tongue. The life she lives is simplistic, she trusts in God with all that she does, she praises him all day long, and she gives all that she has. She has taught me more by example, than by words. If I remembered one thing from this experience, it would be her lifestyle. God calls us to live a lifestyle of Christ, and it is very hard to see. But this woman has truly shown me how you can lead a life of complete trust in God, giving, loving, and worshipping. Sometimes we make excuses that you cant actually live like this, but people like Mama Tom have shown me that it is possible, and it is radical, but it is good.
