One morning in Sindo, I found a shady spot under a tree to journal a prayer. I take my quiet time with God pretty seriously, so when people come and talk to me I usually get aggrivated. This morning, a little girl named Ebenezar who was about 5 years old came up to me. She was very curious and just sat and watched me write for a bit. I started to get distracted by her, even a little angry, and then God reminded me of what Jesus said “Let the children come to me”. I started to smile, closed my journal, and started to play with little Ebby. She has a beautiful smile, and she wasn’t afraid of me (a lot of little african kids are afraid of light skinned people). I took out my journal and gave it to her to write in. She showed me what she drew, and my heart just melted. She drew pictures of princesses and flowers and houses and puppies. Now if you have children or if you have ever recieved the gift of a picture from a young child you know how I felt. We colored together in my journal, and smiled and laughed together. I think God likes it better when I worship him this way. Journaling my prayers is important to me, but journaling with a child is a different kind of worship, and I love it.
sooooo beautiful. little ebby.

Alison,
Great story about how Holy Spirit interrupts our agenda to be who we are supposed to be. Thanks for being obedient.
Dear Alizon,
I really appreciate you stories. I hope you don’t mind if I refer to them in some of my little sermons, when they fit the subject. I get to create church services at Freedom Pointe ( assisted living in Minnetonka), and the residents really benefit.
I especially relate to this one about Ebby, because I spend a lot of time in my prayer chair at home, praying and worshipping Jesus. When my son, Phil, whose 35 years old comes in talking during those times, I realize that he needs time with Mom, so I do not get irritated.
The story especially reminded me of one of my residents, Vina, who I don’t take much time for. Even though she is not much with it, she obviously notices my lack of sensitivity towards her and points it out with statements like, “I hope you fall and break a leg.” The Holy Spirit has been urging me to be kind and spend time with her lately, espcially that I now know that she is on hospice.
Keep up the good work. Love, Tena
