Matamoros Mexico!
Hey Everyone! The blogs I will be posting will be very similar to my email newsletters, so If it is easier for you to recieve an email to see how my progress is, let me know, at [email protected]
Its been very warm here in Mexico, but the breeze has helped out a lot. We spend time each morning in our team exersises, have breakfast, team discussions, spanish lessons, and by that time, we are ready for lunch! Through our small groups, (mine is my Uganda team) we have afternoon ministry with a family in the area. We minister to a small family of four, the mother and father, Oscar and Gris, and the daughter and son, Estrella and Oscar Jr. It has been such a joy to get to know this family, however, the language barrier can be hard at times. We also spend time working at the school near by, maintaining it for the young children who go there, and making sure everything works properly. It was Oscar Jr.’s birthday yesterday and we celebrated with cupcakes! Oscar turned the new age of One year old.
We also visited a small orphanage in Matamoros last week, and will probably return soon. The children, although very small, have more energy than I have ever seen! I met a very shy girl named Azul or “Blue” in english. I gave her a piggy back for just about an hour, and when I sat down for a break, she just lay on my back and say “MAS MAS!” which means (more more!)
I have now been here for two weeks, and it is amazing how well everyone seems to know one another. Our large team has bonded well, and God has used us in innumberable ways. In our first week, it seemed as though God wanted us to be freed from our past failures, past mistakes, and past “junk” in our lives. We had many long nights of prayer, emotion, worship, and freedom that led to our groups strong bonds. We have continued to pray for eachother, and hold eachother accountable to the new lives we hope to lead, and it is a beautiful start. Thank you for your prayers as well! God is good.
Blessings to you all! Id love to hear from you! Miss you!
In Christ,
Alison Hebeisen
