Jambo! Im in Uganda! Thank you so much for your support! I wouldn’t be here without you! God has brought my group into Busia Uganda, its about 1 kilometer away from Kenya. There are mountains off in the distance, which lush trees and bushes, gardens and plants. It is very hot and the sun is high in the sky all day long. The dirt roads are very bumpy and you can often find roaming chickens and goats. The main transportation is bikes, and I have one of my own! Its hard to remember that they ride on the opposite side of the street, haha. It is very common to see the men riding the bikes, and the women riding on a small seat over the back of the wheel. The people always laugh at us as we ride by, because it is not common for girls to ride bikes, and we aren’t used to it yet, so we look funny. The children also run after us and call “Mizoongoo! Mizoongoo!” which is “white person white person!”. We are the only white people I have seen here, often times, people will stop whatever they are doing just to look at us, and sometimes, babies cry when they see us! We must look scary. However, the children love us, when we walk anywhere, we have crouds of children following us yelling, Mizoongoo! And It is a common occurance to be holding atleast 4 childrens’ hands. So far, we have spend a lot of time just getting used to being here. The jet lag was hard, we are nine hours ahead, so its nighttime where you are, as I write this. We ride our bikes into town everyday to find food. Flat bread, vegtables, beans, and some fruit are pretty popular. I will be able to access the internet atleast once weekly, unless I am traveling. Throughout my time, I will be able to travel to Kenya and Tanzania, which are fairly close to Uganda. We will be starting many churches, as well as visiting churches that Helping Hands has already started! There is an opportunity for you to sponser the orphans I am with every day, and I will find the website for you, and post it on my site. The children I see everyday go to school at the orphanage, but there are no beds for them. They eat one small meal a day that consists of one scoop of beans in a bowl. We were able to attend a church service yesterday, and it lasted three hours. They are the best dancers I have ever seen! And they yell hallelijiah through the whole service, and many people come up while the pastor is talking, and share testimonies, and everyone hoots and hollers! Its awesome. Very Spirit filled servicies. They are very open with eachother! Our pastors name is Moses ,and our ministry parters are Dr. Richard and Brenda Kowalske. Please pray for us as we do ministry! I will write more soon! God bless!
